Beaulieu sur Mer means ‘beautiful place on the sea’.
Although Beaulieu sur Mer is rich in history with archaeological excavations revealing clues that go back to the presence of the ancient Greeks, it is known more for its port full of big yachts, restaurants and beaches.
Here’s a glimpse of the port in this short video. I wore my pirate collar just for the boating occasion! Unfortunately my silly human was more interested in the little remote control sailing boat regatta and the view from the far end of port! She forgot to video the actual port itself and the big boats!..sorry!..I’ll get her to do another one:
…and here’s a little video of Beaulieu beach (me and my pal Othello) with the port in the background:
Vikki found a walk to Beaulieu sur Mer by following old paths that climb up through dense green forests to high view points where, in contrast, we would follow a long path of ancient steps leading down to the sea.
The walk was going to take us a few hours, so adventure-pal Golden Retriever Toffee and his human came along to help us find the paths and enjoy the afternoon.
Finding the uphill path (you can click on any picture for a bigger image):
Some of the paths were hidden in grass…great for my Jungle Zola look:
Pit stop for a welcome drink:
Once we arrived at the view point, the fresh smells and sights were great:
We found the start of the old cobbly path down to Beaulieu sur Mer:
Starting to pass houses..must be nearly there:
We had a little walk through the small town and headed off to the station to catch a train home.
Wow, you make beautiful walks! This year no South of France for us. We get a puppy in August. But if we go, we would love to get some walking tips from you! Greetings Agnes en Joep
What a great walk with beautuful views. I loved the pictures with Zola walking through the grass.
