Begin, be bold and venture to be wise…
I have my own beautiful stone sculpture!
Eric, the amazing stone sculptor, has known me since I was a Shortie.
When I was smaller, I loved to explore his garden or play with my toys by the pool.
Eric helped introduce me to water by walking around the freshwater pool whilst holding me so my paws could dip in.
So Vikki asked Eric if he could make a small sculpture to celebrate ‘me’! Luckily, Eric had an idea to create one from a special marble stone he was given from a village in Southern France called Sauclières. He formed lots of curves and swirls since that was how he saw me in my lying down or curled up snooze positions. Then added layers, movement and even a ridge of unpolished stone that wraps around the sculpture – like the one on my back! He also gave the sculpture lots of good positive energy as he was creating it.
My ridge and curves gave Eric some inspiration for the shape of the sculpture.
The sculpture was named ‘Bold’ due to the day when my Papa Sion’s human first saw me as a puppy and saw how fearless and brave I was to be sprinting up to greet my big Papa. Her words to Vikki were “..that is one bold Ridgeback girl you got there!”.

The sculpture sits with a full view in the room where we spend most of our time. It also reminds Vikki of her promise when I was a little puppy, to be the best doggie human that she can for me.
Us Ridgebacks need strong, bold, playful and deeply loyal characters as our humans. Most importantly we need trust, then we can truly share our heart and soul. Everytime Vikki looks at this stone sculpture, these thoughts resonate and make her smile. Thank you Eric – its magic!
As a puppy and junior dog, our features and body size are changing all the time but the essence of our little characters are already showing…even the boldness!
Beautiful post & enchanting images.
